My approach to caring for patients and families is one of partnership. There are many ways for parents to take care of their children. I support parents in finding methods they feel good about. I try to be a coach for parents as they access their own inner wisdom, helping them to feel confident in themselves as parents. Above all, what children need is the focused attention of loving adults in their lives.
As a physician, I am in favor of less intervention because children are resilient and most of them are healthy. I take a holistic approach to care; with time and patience many problems improve without any medical intervention.
I am a parent myself; having children has made me more aware of both the privilege and challenge of raising children. It has made me certain that there's not one right way to do things. Every child is unique; it's important to figure out what each individual child needs, and tailor care to meet those needs.
