We welcome you to learn more about our Pulmonary Artery Reconstruction (PAR) Program at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. We have the most highly skilled team in the world when it comes to performing a suite of pulmonary artery reconstruction procedures in patients of all ages. Our entire team of surgeons have extensive experience offering a variety of PAR procedures, including, but not limited to, our flagship unifocalization surgery.

Our Betty Irene Moore Children’s Heart Center’s chief of surgery pioneered a unique approach to the management of complex pulmonary artery disease that includes complete unifocalization of collaterals and native pulmonary arteries and extensive arterioplasty out to the segmental level. In patients with tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia and major aortopulmonary collateral arteries, a single-stage complete unifocalization can be achieved nearly 70% of the time, including a ventricular septal defect closure. The surgery is typically performed in the first three to six months of life.

Our innovative approach offers outstanding results and significant benefits to patients. Our unifocalization success rate is over 90%, with 10-year postsurgery survival at 93%.
