Respiratory Care Services

Our Respiratory Care team at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford is part of the Pulmonary & Cystic Fibrosis Center, which provides a wide range of services for children with pulmonary and respiratory disorders.

Some of the services our team offers includes:

  • Mechanical ventilation, both conventional and high frequency
  • Aerosol therapy (medicated and non-medicated)
  • Bronchopulmonary hygiene techniques:
    • Conventional CPT
    • Mechanical vibrator vest
    • Flutter therapy
    • IPV therapy
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Humidity therapy
  • Inhaled nitric oxide therapy
  • Oximetry (spot checks, sleep oximetry)
  • Capnography (continuous and spot checks)
  • Airway management and care (suctioning, oral and nasal airways)
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency airway management
  • Diagnostic techniques:
    • Bronchoscopy assisting
    • Sputum induction
  • Patient/parent instruction of all respiratory care modalities, as ordered by the physician
  • Acute care transport (inter-hospital and intra-hospital)
  • Cardiopulmonary research
