Pediatric Transplant Services

Our transplant specialties

We care for children along all stages of the treatment spectrum, from diagnostic evaluations to heart failure treatmentventricular assist device implantation, and heart transplantation.

We are a respected leader in providing comprehensive care for pediatric intestinal transplants—having one of only three programs on the West Coast.

Our pediatric kidney transplant program at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford, is a national transplant volume leader. In fact, over the past five years, data from the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) shows we have performed more pediatric kidney transplants than any other U.S. center.

We are a top-performing pediatric liver transplant center in the United States and a consistent West Coast leader in liver transplant, according to data from the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN)

Lung and heart-lung transplantation is a highly specialized and generally rare option for treatment for children with end-stage lung disease. We are one of the 17 hospitals in the U.S. that participate in the International Pediatric Lung Transplant Collaborative (IPLTC).

Dual Immune/Solid Organ Transplant (DISOT) for Kidney Failure

Our pediatric transplant doctors have revolutionized care for children who need a kidney transplant by developing a groundbreaking procedure called dual immune/solid organ transplant (DISOT), which has earned FDA approval and was featured in the New England Journal of Medicine in June 2022. We are the only hospital in the world that is currently offering this revolutionary approach.
