Tailored therapy and treatments

The team at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford provides tailored therapeutic treatments for children diagnosed with velopharyngeal insufficiency through a multidisciplinary approach

Velopharyngeal Insufficiency (VPI)

Diagnosis, treatment and education

At Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, we have a multidisciplinary team of physicians and specialists working together to care for the unique needs of children with velopharyngeal insufficiency (VPI), a throat disorder that affects a child’s speech. Our VPI program provides child-centered consultations which include diagnosis, treatment and education for this complex condition.

During appointments with our team, you and your child will meet with our otolaryngologist and speech pathologist to determine if VPI is present and the severity of the condition. Together, they will provide you with information about your child’s condition and the important role you play in your child’s treatment and care.
