  • “My goals are to bring comfort and hope to my patients and their families.”

I take a family-centered and team-based approach to providing evidence-based care for my patients. At Stanford, we are fortunate to have a strong, multidisciplinary care team, and we work together to care for our patients and provide support to their families.

I feel incredibly grateful to be a part of my patients’ stories. My goals are to bring comfort and hope to my patients and their families and to support them along each step of their journey as we work toward cure. As a physician and a mother, I believe it is important to keep the patient’s best interests at the forefront of every decision.

As a fellow, I cared for two amazing brothers who had traveled from their native Kenya with their adoptive family to undergo stem cell transplants for sickle cell disease. The journey through their transplants was a difficult one, but with their resilience and the tremendous support of their family, their friends, and all of the members of the medical team, they were able to safely return home to Kenya. Their mother emailed me a beautiful photo of them walking, hand in hand, along a tree-lined road near their home, and my heart was filled with such joy.
