After-Hours Virtual Care

While your primary care office should be your first choice for in-person or virtual care, After-Hours Virtual Care is a convenient way to speak with a Stanford Medicine Children’s Health pediatrician outside of normal business hours. Our virtual visits are the quickest and most secure way to see a Stanford pediatrician. With After-Hours Virtual Care, you can schedule same-day and weekend appointments and receive the highest-quality medical advice without waiting for a next-day appointment.

If you have an urgent or life-threatening medical need, please dial 911 or visit your nearest urgent care facility or hospital emergency room.

Requirements

Established Stanford Medicine Children’s Health patient with a MyChart account

  • 21 years old or younger.
  • An activated MyChart account.
  • Patient is also required to be located in California at the time of the virtual visit, due to federal and state regulations.

Monday – Friday, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday, 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Sunday and holidays, 9:30 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Book an appointment

Log in to your MyChart account; select “Visits” and then “Schedule an appointment.” For appointments Monday through Friday, you can access the schedule starting at 12:30 p.m. on each day. For appointments on Saturday you can access scheduling at 8 a.m. For appointments on Sunday, you can access the schedule starting at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Frequently asked questions

Can I request a refill on medication through this service?

If you are seeking a refill of your child’s medication, please contact the pharmacy directly, or submit a refill request or send a secure message through MyChart.

Can I see a specialist?

After-Hours Virtual Care is staffed by Stanford general pediatricians. If you would like your child to be seen by a specialist, please schedule with your child’s primary care provider to discuss a referral for specialty care.

What if I have concerns about my child’s mental or behavioral health?

If you are seeking care for a mental or behavioral health concern, please schedule with your child’s PCP. For urgent or life-threatening mental health needs, please call 911 or visit our pediatric emergency department. For immediate crisis intervention, text 741741 to reach the Crisis Text Line, or call or text the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988.

What if I am logged in to MyChart but cannot see the “After-Hours” appointment type?

For appointments Monday through Friday, you can access the schedule starting at 12:30 p.m. on each day. Saturday appointments will be available to schedule at 8:00 A.M. on Saturday. Sunday appointments will be available to schedule at 12:30 P.M. on Saturday.

Will an interpreter be available to translate during the visit?

Yes. Stanford Medicine Children’s Health can provide an interpreter for your appointment at no charge. Please ask your provider at the start of your visit to add an interpreter to your virtual visit. Over 40 different languages are available, including American Sign Language.

How can I get help with logging in to or resetting passwords with MyChart?

If you have any questions or require assistance, please contact our help desk at (877) 339-9895.

How do I cancel my appointment?

In MyChart, under "Visits" select the appointment you would like to cancel, then choose "Cancel appointment". You can cancel your appointment up to the scheduled appointment time without penalty. Please do cancel if you no longer need the appointment so it can be made available to another patient.
