Critical Care

If your child is admitted to Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford with a life-threatening, critical illness, our Critical Care Services team may help diagnose your child’s illness and manage his or her care. We work with specialists in all medical and surgical specialties to care for children:

  • With life-threatening conditions.
  • Who have had an organ transplant.
  • Who require forms of mechanical ventilation (e.g., high frequency ventilation, ECMO).
  • Who require forms of therapy only available at very specialized (tertiary) care facilities.
