Pediatric Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia Patient and Family Support

We understand that it can be a challenge to manage your child’s arrhythmia. That’s why we have dedicated providers to guide you along the way and to answer all of your questions. While your child receives care with us, we want to make your life as simple as possible so that you can fully be there for your child. To ease your worries, our social services, chaplains, child life experts and dedicated psychologists are here to help.

Our social workers are beneficial in many ways. If you have a nonmedical question and need an answer, ask your social worker. They provide counseling during stressful times, crises, or life changes, or simply help you better understand your child’s illness and treatment plan. This skilled team acts as a link between you and your child’s providers, offering interpretation, as well as connections to community resources, including financial, insurance, legal, and mental health services. They also help you navigate practical needs, including housing for families traveling great distances. Through our Pediatric Cardiac Psychology Program, we have dedicated social workers just for our families.

As part of our Pediatric Cardiac Psychology Program, our dedicated electrophysiology psychologist is here to help you navigate all aspects of life with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). She provides care for your whole family and also works with your child individually to ensure success.

Our popular Child Life and Creative Arts department is here to help your child and siblings cope positively with procedures, surgery, and hospital stays via recreation and therapeutic play, including our playrooms, gardens, and story corner for your family, as well as preschool, pet assisted therapy, and bedside activities, including games, art, and books for your child during hospital stays and outpatient procedures.

If you need a reprieve, visit our sanctuary at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford’s Main building. It provides a place of serenity and reflection for all faith traditions, with a beautiful view and entrance to our healing garden. You are welcome to request spiritual care from our interfaith chaplain.
