Short Stay Unit: Information for Referring Physicians

If you are a physician with Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford admitting privileges, you may utilize the Short Stay Unit.

Facility

The Short Stay Unit has:

• Eight private rooms, and one room with negative pressure for isolation.
• A procedure room that can be used for blood draws and prep work.

Admission

Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford admission criteria apply to the Short Stay Unit. In addition, electronic orders are required prior to admission day, and all pre-scheduled appointments require preauthorization sent from your office to the Short Stay Unit receptionist. Physician Coverage

The responsible physician must be identified at initiation of treatment or therapy and be available onsite, by pager, or by telephone for consultation (or arrange for coverage by a hospitalist).
