  • “I want my patients and families to know that I'll always be there for them.”

One of the things I love about being a pediatric cardiologist is that I get to follow my patients as they grow and become adults. I get to know the whole family in the process of caring for the child, and I become part of their support network. You only have one heart that's it. When there's something wrong with a child's heart, it can be very traumatic for the family. I make sure that families are equipped with knowledge they need to treat their child's condition, and I help alleviate their fears. I try to explain things clearly to the family so that everyone understands what is happening and can be part of the child's care team.

Each patient I see is unique and special to me. I keep in touch with many of my patients and their families throughout their lives. I want my patients and families to know that I'll always be there for them.
