  • “What I love about being a doctor is that I am constantly unraveling little mysteries and problem solving.”

What I love about being a doctor is that I am constantly unraveling little mysteries and problem solving. If I have an interesting case, it doesn’t leave my mind until I can get to the bottom of things and figure out the best strategy for what’s going on and make the patient feel better.

I also love kids and watching them develop – really seeing the magic of them growing in front of your eyes and just how truly special they are. I feel like there is wonder in even the tiniest of things. Experiencing some of that as a parent has been really helpful for counseling families. A lot of healthy, normal things that you don’t really learn about in medical school, you learn by parenting.

I know how much a child’s illness can impact the family and their whole day, every day. So, I really try to understand where the families are at. I don’t just give out medicine and say, “Okay, that’ll do it”. I am so glad when parents come to me and bring me their questions and issues.
