What I love about being a pediatrician is that I can provide continuity of care for my patients. I feel extremely privileged to take care of children throughout their lives as they grow from newborns into young adults.
As a pediatrician, I spend time teaching parents and children how to make healthy choices. When treating children, I try to avoid unnecessary medication. I always follow the Hippocratic Oath, which I took more then 30 years ago: Do no harm.
As my patients get older and become parents themselves, they sometimes bring their own newborns to my care. It is one of the best feelings in the world to see my patients grow into healthy adults and have them entrust the care of their own children to me.
