Pediatric Neuromuscular Diseases Clinic

The Pediatric Neuromuscular Diseases Clinic specializes in caring for children of all ages with neuromuscular diseases. Due to the complexity of these conditions, developing and implementing the best possible care plan often requires a team of experts from multiple disciplines working together with patients and their families.

Our Approach

At Stanford Medicine Children’s Healthour neuromuscular diseases care team combines innovative research with individualized care to diagnose and treat children and other family members with even the most challenging conditions. Our comprehensive neuromuscular team approach to care is designed to not only treat a child’s symptoms but also address the needs of the family by connecting them to financial, social, educational and disability resources.

Children see multiple specialists at their visits to the clinic, which cuts down on the time and expense of having to make multiple trips to different specialists. These specialists may include a neurologist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech and language pathologist, social worker, research coordinator, nurse practitioner, nurse coordinator, genetic counselor, and community outreach liaison.

At their clinic visit, children and their families can access a world-class care team that includes some of the leading researchers in the field. Because our specialists are dedicated to finding new ways to diagnose and treat a variety of neuromuscular conditions, our patients also have access to a large number of clinical trials.

Stanford Health Care’s Neuroscience Health Center is home to the world-renowned adult Neuromuscular Program, so our young patients are provided with a seamless continuity of care as they transition into adulthood.
