Children’s Orthopedic Conditions We Treat

We treat infants, children, and teens with all types of orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions that either were present at birth (congenital) or happened by accident while playing a sport or just being a kid.

Scoliosis and spinal deformities

Children with spine conditions like scoliosis can life active, pain-free lives with the right treatment. Our program pairs expert doctors, nurses, and physical therapists with the latest technology to offer the best treatment options for your child.

We diagnose and treat a wide range of spine conditions, including:

• Back pain
• Kyphosis
• Scoliosis
• Spondylolysis (a stress fracture in one of the vertebrae in your child’s spine)
• Spondylolisthesis (if the stress fracture weakens the vertebrae too much, it can shift out of place)

Sports injuries

We play offense and defense: from treating injuries to helping your child improve their performance and reduce their risk of getting hurt again. Our sports medicine care team includes doctors, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and nutritionists, all focused on caring for your child.

We treat hip disorders in people of all ages, including:

• Acetabular dysplasia/developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH)
• Femoral anteversion
• Slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE)

• Labral tears (injuries to the soft tissue, or cartilage, that covers the hip socket)
• Perthes disease

Foot and ankle disorders

Healthy feet are essential for a lifetime of walking, running, and play. Under the leadership of Dr. Steven Frick, our foot and ankle disorder care team works with your family to identify the best treatment option for your child. We treat:

• Bunions (hallux valgus)
• Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and cavovarus foot deformity (when the foot has an abnormally high arch)

• Congenital vertical talus (a condition diagnosed at birth in which the bottom of the foot curves out)

• Metatarsus adductus
• Osteochondrosis and stress fractures
