  • “The sheer joy that comes from my patients’ faces is why I love working with kids.”

I chose pediatric medicine for the opportunity to interact with patients and get them results that consider their overall quality of life, encompassing mental as well as physical well-being. My approach is to make sure that families always know they are an important part of the decision-making process that determines treatment.

It is so gratifying to create a bond with kids and their caregivers—making that connection helps me get the full story of their condition and learn what they already know about it. Then I can fill in the gaps so that they have as much knowledge about the disease process as they need to make informed choices. I want my patients to always feel there is room for discussion so we can come to the best decision together. I’ll lay out a road map to treatment options, but no one should feel their fate is predetermined before walking into the office.
