I love having children as my patients because they are so resilient and joyful. They get well really quickly after being ill, and it's always a wonderful thing to see.

I like to work with parents as partners. I make sure we always have an open dialogue so we can trust each other and solve the problem sooner. I always listen closely to parents' concerns. As a parent of two children, I can really understand the parents' perspective. Open and honest communication allows us to create the best care plan for the whole family.

The field of gastroenterology (GI) has changed in leaps and bounds. There are so many tools available now that help us treat pediatric GI patients. New diagnostic procedures and developments in understanding disease, genetic influences and the microbiome have increased our understanding in the field. New medications and targeted therapies are becoming available all the time. There is so much hope for treating children with GI issues, and it feels good to be able to give families hope.
