Cystic Fibrosis Research and Innovation

We frequently participate in innovative national and international clinical trials to help us develop new cystic fibrosis (CF) therapies and work toward a cure. At any given time, the program is involved in at least 20 drug studies and 10 other types of trials, ranging from research on the benefits of certain dietary supplements for treating cystic fibrosis to cutting-edge gene therapy.

To see a list of current clinical trials, please visit Stanford’s clinical trial site. For more information about participating in a clinical trial, including an FAQ, check out Stanford School of Medicine’s Cystic Fibrosis Center.

Our doctors and researchers are also working to better understand the biology of CF in the laboratory, which may lead to improved treatments. This includes recent research on viruses and bacteria in the lungs of CF patients.
