Eating Disorders Outpatient

The Eating Disorders Clinic provides comprehensive outpatient medical and psychiatric evaluation, treatment and follow-up for children and teenagers with eating disorders including:

  • Anorexia nervosa 
  • Bulimia nervosa
  • Other eating disorders including the female athlete triad

The clinic is a part of Lucile Packard Children's Hospital's Comprehensive Eating Disorders Program.

Outpatient treatment options include:

  • Diagnostic evaluation (both medical and psychiatric)
  • Medical management to prevent or detect complications
  • Nutritional assessment and management
  • Growth and development evaluation
  • Assessment and management of osteopenia and osteoporosis
  • Psychiatric medication evaluation and monitoring (Child Psychiatry)
  • Individual therapy (Child Psychiatry)
    • Cognitive behavioral therapy
    • Interpersonal therapy
    • Psychodynamic therapy
    • Family-based therapy
  • Coordination with the patient’s school
  • Group and environment (milieu) treatment
