When to refer

Our team accepts referrals for any lipid questions or concerns.

The ACC and AHA recommend cholesterol screenings for all children between ages 9 to 11 and again between ages 17 to 21. Red flags of inherited lipid disorders include a first- or second-degree family member with premature heart disease, or multiple generations of hyperlipidemia and/or coronary artery disease.

Suspect an inherited cholesterol condition when the following lipid levels are present, particularly with a family history of coronary artery disease:
