Safely Home: Certified Technician Courses

mom and child together

Interested in becoming a Child Passenger Safety Technician?

Join over 39,000 nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST) and become a resource in your community.

What we do?

As a CPS technician, you will work with parents and caregivers to provide hands-on assistance with the correct use of child restraint systems and seat belts, as well as helping to educate families through community events and safety seat checks.

How to Become Certified

All CPS technicians must pass the CPS Certification Course and pay the local and national course fee.  The minimum age requirement for CPS certification is 18 at the time the course starts. Local fees may be waived if you become a volunteer with the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital’s fitting station offered several times a year.

Keep Learning

Lucile Packard Children's Hospital can help you stay up-to-date on the latest technical information about child passenger safety through seminars and other continuing education opportunities.
