What is the difference between Stanford Medicine Children’s Health and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital?

Stanford Medicine Children’s Health (SMCH) is an independent health care system in the San Francisco Bay Area exclusively dedicated to pediatric and maternal care. Stanford Medicine Children’s Health’s physicians and health care teams offer services at more than 65 locations. Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford refers to our main inpatient hospital located in Palo Alto, California, which is part of the larger organization of Stanford Medicine Children’s Health.

To whom should I address my cover letter?

Please address your cover letter as follows:

Stanford Medicine Children’s Health Administrative Fellowship Selection Committee
725 Welch Road
Palo Alto, CA 94304

How flexible is the fellowship timeline?

The fellowship program follows a schedule of six-month rotations, including: 1. Inpatient Operations, 2. Outpatient Operations, 3. Strategy and Business Development, and 4. Rotation of Fellow’s Choosing. While it is recommended the fellow follow this order, there is significant flexibility to adjust the duration of rotations, as well as explore other areas of interest. Previously, fellows have chosen to extend certain rotations, complete a shorter rotation in an area of their interest, and/or complete a special project that has emerged during the fellowship. In addition, the fellow will have 25% of their time spent working on projects sponsored directly by our COO, Rick Majzun and CEO, Paul King.

Are there opportunities to work with Stanford Health Care during the fellowship?

Though an independent pediatric health care system, Stanford Medicine Children’s Health has a strong partnership with Stanford Health Care. The fellow gains exposure to this system through working with shared services and involvement in strategic planning between Stanford Health Care, Stanford Medicine Children’s Health and the Stanford School of Medicine. Please note, Stanford Health Care also offers an Administrative Fellowship program.
