Pediatric General Surgery Fellowship

The Division of Pediatric General Surgery offers a 2 year single fellow ACGME accredited fellowship program. The program, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, offers comprehensive clinical care and research opportunities in a quaternary care hospital that is rated by U.S. News and World Report as one of the nation’s top children's hospitals.

The objectives of Stanford's postgraduate training in Pediatric Surgery are to develop Pediatric Surgeons who can, with an increasing level of autonomy, assume complete responsibility for the preoperative, operative, and postoperative management of the problems relegated to their area of special expertise and who can interact appropriately with allied colleagues involved in the care of pediatric patients. Additionally, it is expected that the fellow will develop the sensitivity required to deal not only with pediatric patients, but also with their families. Interwoven with these objectives will be those of an ethical and academic nature that will reflect the conscience of modern Pediatric Surgery and that will help advance the field through innovation, research, and discovery.

Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford's Division of Pediatric Surgery participates in the National Resident Matching Program (Program Code 1820445F0) every other year. We are currently in the interviewing stages for the next Fellow, to begin August 2023.

Interview Process

We extend interviews to approximately 15-20 fellowship applicants after an extensive screening process. We acknowledge that this relatively small number is a variation on the traditional interview process. Our selection process is approached much like hiring a practice partner. In addition, we are cognizant of the expense and time involved in the interview process, and also wish to minimize the potential negative impact on your present professional colleagues who are supporting you through this process.
