Research and Innovation

Our Stanford Medicine Children’s Health heart doctors are at the forefront of innovation in cardiology. We are continually discovering new cutting-edge devices and procedures to help children live a better life with heart disease. For example, we innovatively seek to adapt industry devices designed for adults to children’s anatomies, so that they can specifically meet the needs of our patients with better outcomes.

Our heart doctors participate in clinical research trials in the following areas. If interested in participating in a trial, talk with your Stanford Children’s heart doctor:

  • Inventing new catheterization and pulmonary valve procedures.
  • Developing new stents for children.
  • Testing new devices, such as our groundbreaking early work with the Harmony™ transcatheter pulmonary valve (TPV).
  • Participating in national clinical trials to help understand the safest procedures for our congenital heart patients.
