Volumes and Outcomes

Stanford Medicine Children’s Health is proud to have the largest and longest-standing pulmonary artery reconstruction (PAR) program in the world, because it allows us to provide you or your child with the very best care available for your/your child’s complex heart defect and pulmonary artery abnormality.

Volume highlights

  • We perform 100+ PAR surgeries each year for a variety of conditions, being the only center in the U.S. with this record, as unifocalization is rarely offered at other centers, and when it is, it’s performed very infrequently.
  • We’ve been performing pulmonary artery reconstruction for 20+ years, and we’ve seen patients for PAR procedures from 45+ U.S. states and more than five foreign countries.
  • We have performed hundreds of unifocalization surgeries since opening our program in the mid-1990s.

Outcomes highlights

  • Our unifocalization success rate is over 90%, with a 10-year postsurgery survival rate of 93%.
