Stanford Medicine Children’s Health Welcomes Jimena Almendares to Its Board of Directors

From figure skating champion to international tech leader, a new board member brings experience, leadership, and strong community relationships to the Stanford Medicine Children’s Health Board of Directors.

PALO ALTO, Calif. — Stanford Medicine Children’s Health – Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford recently appointed global technology executive Jimena Almendares to its Board of Directors. Her appointment begins June 1, 2023.

Almendares is a renowned executive leader with a strong track record of driving business growth and delivering exceptional experiences to customers. She currently serves as a board member at Life Time, Inc., a NYSE-listed health, fitness and wellness company with club locations across the country.

Previously, as the General Manager of Customer Experience at Meta (formerly Facebook), Almendares oversaw support for over 3.7 billion users, advertisers, businesses, and creators across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and all Meta platforms. As Meta’s first Executive in Residence, she worked on the highest-complexity problems across the company that required large-scale multi-organizational alignment on strategy and execution, as well as on diversity justice initiatives.

Prior to joining Meta, Almendares held senior leadership roles at Intuit as CEO and President of Intuit Payments Inc., VP of Payments and VP of Global Expansion; Almendares also led OkCupid as its Chief Product Officer through its initial public offering as part of the Match Group.

Almendares, has an outstanding track record in spearheading impactful diversity and inclusion initiatives. Her dedication to fostering an inclusive environment is exemplified through her role as a board member at Out for Undergrad and as an executive sponsor of various employee resource groups. Additionally, she has actively driven mentorship programs focused on empowering women.

Almendares holds an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BA and MA from the Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris. She is a recipient of several prestigious awards, including the 2021 BoardIQ Hispanic Hall of Fame, the 2020 Fast Company Queer 50, the 2019 Silicon Valley Business Journal Latino Business Leadership Award, and the 30 Under 40 by Expansión/CNN Magazine Mexico. She grew up in Mexico and became a three-time national ice skating champion.
