I knew I wanted to be a pediatrician from a young age because I’ve always loved being around kids. In addition to my medical degree, I have a master’s degree in socioeconomic health and diversity, and that training helps me keep an open mind when I approach my patients. It helps me connect with a wide and diverse patient population and helps me understand where families are coming from.
Each family is different and has their own set of values. As a physician, it’s important that I work together with families to create a care plan for their child that will work for the whole family. I always take time to walk them through what I’m thinking, and I think families appreciate when their doctor takes that extra time.
I care about my patients very much and will do anything I can to help them. When you work with families, you can see how much parents care about their children. I feel lucky to have a job where I’m helping kids and their families every day.
