Services We Provide

Our esophageal disorders team is proud to offer the most advanced technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions of the esophagus and gastrointestinal tract. We’re also home to some of the foremost experts in testing and developing these technologies. These experts will work closely with the rest of your child’s care team to provide a myriad of diagnostic and treatment services.

These services may include the following cutting-edge technologies:

  • EndoFlip and EsoFlip, which use a balloon and catheter to allow doctors to look at the stomach, esophagus, and other parts of the gastrointestinal tract without exposing children to the radiation of x-rays
  • Electrogastrogram, a test that detects the electrical signals from the stomach, including the gastric pacemaker
  • Enterra, a device used to treat gastroparesis that works like a pacemaker for the stomach, improving motility in the gastrointestinal tract
  • Esophageal impedance pH testing for reflux, a test that uses a tube to let doctors see whether liquid is moving from the stomach to the esophagus
  • Esophageal manometry, a diagnostic test that uses a solid-state system to measure the motility in the pharynx and esophagus
  • Gastroduodenal manometry, a diagnostic test that uses a solid-state system to measure the motility in the stomach and duodenum.
  • Peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM), a procedure that allows doctors to perform surgery to treat achalasia using an endoscopic tube instead of cutting into the skin or abdomen.
