Our Fetal and Pregnancy Health Program provides you with access to world-renowned experts in medical and surgical care for expectant mothers, infants, and children.
When you become our patient, we assemble a team of specialists unique to your and your baby’s needs because every pregnancy is unique. We all work together to ensure the best possible treatment and outcomes for you and your baby. We also coordinate your multidisciplinary care through a single point of contact to simplify care and provide you and your family with a seamless experience. Your core care team will include the following:
Your team will include all specialists with expertise relevant to your unique pregnancy and fetal diagnosis. These may include specialists in general surgery; Betty Irene Moore Children’s Heart Center specialists in fetal cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery; and specialists in urology, nephrology, neurology, neurosurgery, anesthesia, and any of our comprehensive medical and surgical services. They will work together to plan for and address your needs and your baby’s needs before birth, for delivery, in the neonatal period, and through childhood.
Our highly trained social workers are also important members of your care team. They can help you understand the hospital experience, provide support, and connect you with resources including lodging and housing assistance.
Other team members may include parent mentors, chaplains, and lactation specialists.
Susan Hintz, MD, MS Epi, is the Director of the Fetal and Pregnancy Health Program and the Robert L. Hess Family Professor in Neonatal and Developmental Medicine. She is board certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

El-Sayed, MD, is the Obstetrician-in-Chief at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford, the Co-Director of the Johnson Center for Pregnancy and Newborn Services, and the Chief of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics Division at Stanford University. He is board certified in Maternal & Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics & Gynecology.
