Kohl’s Department Stores to Donate More than $132,000 to Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford for Injury Prevention, Hosts Free Safety Event

For Release: September 18, 2014

PALO ALTO, Calif. – On Saturday, September 20, Kohl’s Department Stores and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford will celebrate another year of partnership by hosting a free car seat fitting event at the Blossom Hill Kohl’s location in San Jose. This year, Kohl’s has committed $132,371 to our hospital to support child safety services for the Bay Area community. Unintentional injuries or accidents are the number one killer of children in the United States; community outreach programs that teach the importance of safety measure can help stop unintentional harm and save lives.

Since 2004, Kohl’s has donated more than $1 million to Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. Support from Kohl’s helps to underwrite the Kohl’s Child Safety and Outreach Program, an ongoing partnership with our hospital to reduce harm to Bay Area children. The program promotes car seat, bicycle, pedestrian and home safety at health fairs and community events across the South Bay and Peninsula. “We are incredibly grateful for the long-time support of Kohl’s Cares which has allowed us to build a comprehensive child safety program. Parents are thankful for what we do and we are thankful for the opportunity to be able to ensure that children in our community are safe in the car, on their bikes, as pedestrians, and in the home,” said safety technician Ben Arias.

To celebrate this year’s grant, Kohl’s will host a free car seat safety event from 10am to 1pm this Saturday, September 20 at its Blossom Hill store, located at 890 Blossom Hill Rd in San Jose. Bilingual technicians from our hospital will inspect car seats and provide parents with information and best practices.
