I’ve always been interested in science and helping people especially kids. So, when I was considering doing medicine, pediatrics was always my top priority. I wanted to be able to start from a clean slate and influence a patient’s health from the very beginning.

With endocrinology, there is a logical pathway for all the hormones. My job is to figure out where the system is broken. That’s when you see things like diabetes, thyroid disease, growth or puberty issues. The nice thing about endocrinology is if there is broken parts, we can replace or fix them.

Parents are so nervous whenever they hear there is something wrong with their child’s hormones. I like to be able to reassure them that with proper treatment, kids can generally be kids and grow up to be whatever they were meant to be. Our goal with kids with chronic conditions is to help them feel normal.
