Conditions We Treat

Endoscopy is a common procedure for investigating gastrointestinal symptoms your child may be having, including abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, weight loss, fatigue, indigestion, reactions from trauma, and unexplained bleeding. The biopsies taken during endoscopies are used to diagnose several gastrointestinal conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), ulcers, and celiac disease, among others, along with rare causes.

Endoscopy can also treat the following conditions:

• Foreign object: Removing a foreign object that’s obstructing a child’s GI tract.
• Juvenile polyps or small growths: Removing benign (noncancerous) growths when they pose a risk.
• Bleeding: Stopping bleeding with coagulation therapy, cauterization, or manually with a clip or band.
