Hemophilia

Hemophilia is a bleeding disorder that makes it difficult for the blood to clot. Our federally recognized hemophilia treatment center offers comprehensive care to patients of all ages, and has done so for more than 35 years. In partnership with the Stanford Hematology Program, we provide unsurpassed continuity of care for hemophilia from birth through adulthood.

We pride ourselves in having experts who specialize in both child and adult hemophilia, ensuring your child will receive care from dedicated, familiar providers throughout their lifetime. Our wide array of services promote wraparound care, empowering your child to live their best life.

Why choose Stanford Medicine Children’s Health for hemophilia treatment

  • A history of quality care. As one of the first federally funded hemostasis and thrombosis centers (also known as hemophilia treatment centers) in California, we adhere to strict care guidelines that emphasize prevention, reduce the risk of complications, and achieve the best possible results for your child.
  • A team for your child’s every need. Our care team includes hematologists, orthopedists, adolescent gynecologists, physical therapists, social workers, and easy access to other specialists, including dentists and nutritionists.
  • Experience treating a wide range of bleeding and clotting disorders. We treat the full spectrum of hemostasis and thrombosis disorders, ranging from hemophilia and other factor deficiencies as well as thrombophilia and other rare bleeding and clotting disorders.
  • Lifelong support. Many of our patients consider us family because we accompany our patients as they grow from newborns and children to teens and adults, even seeing generations of families. We also partner with our high-risk OB team to help navigate pregnancies for women with bleeding disorders and those who are known carriers.
  • Personalized care to fit your unique needs. Our team stays intimately connected to you, always aware of your child’s health status. Having a long view on your child’s disorder means more accurate, tailored care, which optimizes health and promotes an active, quality life.
  • Convenient, accessible care. We know that managing your child’s hemophilia can feel like a full-time job, so we approach treatment efficiently with respect to your busy schedule, with combined appointments and an accessible care plan.
  • Innovative treatments. As one of 13 federally funded hemostasis and thrombosis centers on the West Coast, we participate in research studies and clinical trials that investigate the very latest treatments and care trends, bringing those advancements to you.
