Pulmonary, Asthma & Sleep Medicine Center

U.S. News and World Report - Pulmonology

Running. Playing. Climbing. Being a kid is hard work when it’s hard to breathe. Our pulmonary specialists have the knowledge and experience to help. We deliver expert care tailored to your child’s needs.

As the top-ranked pediatric pulmonary center on the West Coast according to U.S. News & World Report, our services cover the full range of respiratory disorders and diseases. We have the most pediatric pulmonary specialists of any children’s hospital in California, meaning we have experience helping patients with any lung or breathing condition, including:

  • Airway obstruction, lung infections, and other conditions that can be treated with interventional pulmonology techniques
  • Asthma
  • Bronchopulmonary dysplasia
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Interstitial lung disease
  • Sleep problems

We’ll partner with your primary care physicians and other specialists to provide your child and you with the very best care and experience possible. We also work alongside the Pulmonary Function Laboratory and Cardiopulmonary Exercise Laboratory to help diagnose your child’s breathing issues and track their progress during treatment. And if your child requires at-home breathing support, we work with several home care services to ease the transition from the hospital to home and assist with ongoing management. All of these services are combined with our family-centered care approach to help you and your child breathe easier.

Many of our doctors are also scientists, working in the laboratory to better understand pediatric lung conditions. From exploring gene editing as a treatment for cystic fibrosis to studying how lung problems in early childhood affect lifelong lung health, our doctors and researchers are working to identify better treatments and bring them to our patients.
