Prospective Volunteers

We love and appreciate the hundreds of dedicated volunteers at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford and Stanford Children’s Health. Whether they’re reading a bedtime story to a child, cuddling newborn babies or welcoming visitors to our hospital, volunteers are an important part of the extraordinary care we provide.

Volunteer Requirements

  • 6 month commitment (some programs require 1 year)
  • 1 shift per week
  • The shifts are 2-3 hours long

The volunteer onboarding process is as follows:

  • Register for an online orientation – please check our website for registration dates. You will receive a link to the orientation 24 hours after you have registered
  • Sign up for an interview. You will receive an invitation to sign up for an interview after completing the orientation.
  • Complete the interview questionnaire.  If accepted into the program, the potential volunteer will be asked to complete the online application including submitting two references.  This will be discussed further during the interview.
  • Complete the Health Stream online compliance course. You will receive a link to the courses once the application has been completed.
  • Submit a background check (free of charge). You will receive correspondence about completing the background check process once you have completed the Health Stream.
