Transportation Assistance: Care-a-Van for Kids

Care-A-Van for Kids is a no-cost transportation service for low-income children and families receiving medical treatment at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital with no reliable means of transportation. Care-a-Van for Kids is supported entirely by donations and the pool of drivers is comprised of volunteers from the community. Care-a-Van for Kids collaborates with community transportation programs to expand our ability to serve patients from a far distance and even out-of-state families.

Please contact the Care-a-Van office at (650) 736-2108 if you need assistance with transportation getting to the hospital.

Volunteer

Transporting seriously ill children to the hospital for life-saving medical treatment is not only essential but very rewarding. Connecting with the families we serve in this capacity is a unique experience. Another of our volunteers shares:

“The one thing that is memorable, and I hadn’t expected, is how people react to being picked up and brought to the hospital. People don’t just say ‘thank you’ (casually). It’s the degree to which people express their gratefulness.”

Care-A-Van for Kids gladly and graciously welcomes anyone who wishes to volunteer in the program.
