Our Sustainability Program at Stanford Medicine Children's Health

As the largest network in the San Francisco Bay Area providing pediatric and obstetric care exclusively, Stanford Medicine Children’s Health has the responsibility to lead the way in health care sustainability.

We were the first LEED Platinum children’s hospital built on the West Coast and, as such, are committed to respecting the environment and living by sustainable principles. Our exemplary policies and initiatives are setting the standard, and our efforts are acknowledged by Practice Greenhealth and other environmental and health care organizations.

The Sustainability Program at Stanford Children’s advocates and supports activities that reduce the environmental footprint, greenhouse gas emissions, and costs of operations, seeking solutions that support the health and well-being of staff, visitors, patients, and the greater community.

Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reports

Our Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reports for Stanford Medicine Children’s Health (Stanford Children’s) were developed by Mazzetti in alignment with the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard.

The reports provide comprehensive assessments of Stanford Children’s carbon footprint and identify key opportunities for emissions reduction.

Stanford Medicine Climate Resilience Plan

Climate Resilience is defined as the capacity to prepare for, respond to, and recover from the impacts of hazardous climate events. This process begins with understanding the risks associated with climate related events, along with the impacts that those risks could have on our operations and the community we serve.

These identified risks are then woven into our emergency preparedness efforts, community outreach and planning, and our operational plans.
