Birth Center Orientation & Expectant Parents Night

All in-person Birth Center Orientations have been cancelled for the near future. We are currently offering an alternative online Birth Center Orientation & Expectant Parents Night via Zoom. Register today >

If you have any questions about a class you were registered for, please reach out to LPCHCommunityClass@stanfordchildrens.org.

We are committed to providing you with all of the information you need for birth at the Johnson Center for Pregnancy and Newborn Services. As we move towards offering our educational programs virtually during this time, we want to offer a free online Birth Center Orientation presentation for anyone wishing to learn more about delivering their baby at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford.

Birth Center - Stanford Medicine Children's Health

Hospital staff and physicians will present an orientation to the logistics of having a baby at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford, including information on Labor & Delivery, current Visitor policy, pain relief options during labor, postpartum arrangements and our skin-to-skin program. Audience questions will be taken. Our online Birth Center Orientation will be held from 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. on Zoom.

For those unable to attend the evening presentations, the same information can be obtained as follows:

  • Pre-admission materials for your upcoming hospital stay can be obtained directly from the Admitting Department by calling (650) 497-8229 or online.

  • Please visit the Obstetric Anesthesia web page for information and a brochure on pain relief during labor. This brochure is included in each pre-admit packet. A video on epidural anesthesia is available at the Stanford Health Library and in our childbirth classes.

Birth Center Tours and Orientation Cancelled

The health and safety of all of our patients and staff are important to us. We are making changes to keep everyone safe and continue to provide high-quality care. Based on CDC recommendations we are canceling the Birth Center Orientation at the Johnson Center for Pregnancy and Newborn Services for the near future.

We understand that this news is disappointing, especially as many of you have been very patiently waiting for the opportunity to come in and tour as you prepare for your baby's arrival. We will continue to watch and review the situation, and we thank everyone for their understanding during this time.

We know our birth center orientation often helped answer a lot of questions about what to expect for your upcoming delivery. To help you prepare for this special time in your life we have answered some common questions here (English / Español).
