Interpreter Services

At Stanford Medicine Children's Health, we communicate in your preferred language.

Interpreter Services offers free language assistance services. Interpreters are available in-person, via video, and over-the-phone. Translated documents are available in Spanish, and in other languages based on our patient population needs.

In-person interpretation

In-person Spanish medical interpreters are available at the hospital 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the clinics. 

American Sign Language (ASL), Mandarin, Cantonese and Vietnamese in-person medical interpreters are available Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. both at the hospital and the clinics. Other languages can be prescheduled upon request.

Video remote interpretation

Medical interpreters for ASL and over 25 spoken languages are accessible via iPad devices located in both the hospital and the clinics Monday - Friday 6 a.m. - 5 p.m.

ASL, Spanish, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese and Arabic are available via iPad devices 24/7.

Over-the-phone interpretation

Medical interpreters for over 200 spoken languages are accessible 24/7 via phone from both the hospital and the clinics.
