Besides caring for children during heart surgeries and other heart procedures, many of our doctors are also researchers and well known in the pediatric cardiac anesthesia community. They participate in local and national efforts to improve the quality of care and outcomes for children who undergo heart surgery.
Our current work focuses on using models to predict outcomes in congenital heart surgery and analyzing health care access using census and large-scale datasets. Additional areas of research include using artificial intelligence in health care, improving hemostasis (blood clotting) and coagulation in pediatric cardiothoracic surgery, identifying risk in congenital heart disease, and improving the efficiency of our workflows to improve outcomes and provide care to more patients.
