Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Services

Our multidisciplinary Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition Center provides the following services:

Customized care coordination

When receiving care from us, you are connected with a patient care coordinator who understands your child’s condition and walks beside you on your care journey. Your coordinator acts as a liaison between you and our multidisciplinary team, helping you arrange testing, imaging, and visits with specialists, social workers, and dietitians; and assisting with any other questions.

Telehealth visits

In order to accommodate families that live outside of our area, we are pleased to provide telehealth visits. Call our main number at (650) 515-3740 to speak with our scheduler to see if your next appointment can be via telehealth.

Second opinions

If you have been told that your child has a certain condition, but you would like to have it confirmed, we are happy to talk with your child’s current doctor to offer a second opinion and provide a holistic view. Feel free to reach out to us with questions at (650) 515-3740.

Patient and family support

At Stanford Medicine Children’s Health, we care for you as if you are family. We want you to feel at home. While you are staying with us, we welcome you to take advantage of our hospital’s extensive patient and family services.

Our dedicated social workers truly comprehend what your family is experiencing. They help you understand your child’s GI, liver, or nutrition condition; negotiate the health care system; and give ideas on managing emotions, stress, daily life, and care at home.

Within Stanford Medicine Children’s Health’s related gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition specialty programs, we provide unique extras for families. A few examples:

  • Mind-body therapies such as acupuncture, massage, relaxation, mindfulness, yoga, and medical hypnosis from an integrative medicine doctor dedicated to GI conditions.
  • Individual and family therapy, and preteen and teen group therapy, for those diagnosed with IBD from our dedicated IBD psychologist.
  • A multidisciplinary clinic and evaluation day from world experts for children with Alagille syndrome and their families through our Alagille Syndrome Program.
  • Highly coordinated care from transplant coordinators for patients who undergo a liver transplant, complete with appointments near home at our outreach locations throughout the West.
  • Home delivery of fully customized enteral and TPN formulas for intestinal rehabilitation patients with hands-on guidance on how to provide the nutrition at home safely, with care coordinators at the ready to provide advice.
