Healing children with digestive disease through innovation

U.S. News - Gastroenterology & GI Surgery - Stanford Childrens

Whether your child has simple or complex digestive, liver, or nutrition needs, our large team of pediatric specialists and subspecialists and our specialty programs are here to offer you solutions. Our comprehensive, multidisciplinary whole-child approach ensures that every aspect of your child’s condition is fully addressed. By surrounding your child with the brightest, most innovative minds that are dedicated to finding a solution to your child’s unique needs, we take care to the next level. A part of our power is integrating research into our clinical care to offer your child advanced therapies that are not provided elsewhere.

We’re proud to be one of the largest pediatric multidisciplinary care centers in California to offer a full range of treatments for children from newborn to 18. Care highlights include:

  • Nationally ranked pediatric gastroenterologists. Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford is ranked as one of the nation’s top 10 children’s hospitals, including a national ranking in Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal (GI) Surgery by U.S. News & World Report.
  • Treatments for highly complex needs. We specialize in treating children with high-risk conditions who require multifaceted expertise and provide access to the most advanced liver support and heart care available in the country. Despite the fact that we see a large number of children with complex needs, our care outcomes are among the best on the West Coast.
  • Access to leading experts in all areas of care. Stanford Children’s Health is known for our impressive ability to work collaboratively across specialty lines and come together with the sole purpose of providing the very best care to every child we see. That means you have access to top specialists and subspecialists throughout our system to complete your child’s picture of care, and to step in with tremendous skill when the unexpected happens.
  • Multilayered patient and family care. We combine innovative treatment approaches, including mind-body therapies, psychological support, and specialty care for specific conditions to provide your child and your family with deep support and healing.

Under each specialty, we offer programs with experts who subspecialize in your child’s specific condition. Our 12 specialty programs include:
